Manchester snaps Butler's hurdle record

Byron Manchester broke Butler's indoor track record in the 60-meter hurdles Saturday at Edinboro University, taking first place with a time of 8.65 seconds.

The previous mark of 8.69 was set by Dylan Swidinski in 2016. Manchester's fastest time last year was 8.8

“He came within two-one hundreth's of a second of breakjng our 110 hurdles (outdoor) record at the WPIAL meet last year,” Butler hurdles coach Jeff Renwick said. “He may grab that record this spring.

“Byron has matured a lot over the past year in how he handles himself as an athlete. He was spot on this weekend.”

The Golden Tornado's Sami Taoufik matched his team indoor record in the high jump by leaping 6-8 in winning that event.

Butler's boys won all four relay events Saturday as well.
