GROVE CITY — Slippery Rock High graduate Sarah Cessar has been named Grove City College Sportswoman of the Year for 2013-14.
Cessar earned eight athletic letters at Grove City — four as a midfielder in soccer, three as a middle distance runner in track and one as a forward in basketball.
Last fall, she became the first Grove City women's soccer player to earn first team all-region in consecutive years. Cessar ranks second on GCC's all-time list with a time of 11 minutes, 27.26 seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Last weekend, Cessar placed fourth in the steeplechase and seventh in the 5,000 meters to help the Wolverines win the Presidents' Athletic Conference women's track team title.
Senior football player Chris Gibbs was named GCC Sportsman of the Year.
