Butler police are seeking a robber who left a man hands-free of his cell phone.

Chivonne L. Sherman, 33, of Muddy Creek Township is accused of snatching the victim’s phone late Monday night on South Main Street and taking off running.

Sherman is wanted on a robbery charge in connection with the grab-and-go theft.

Police said the defendant and the victim were standing by the post office about 11:40 p.m. when she asked to borrow his cell phone to make a call for a ride home. The man obliged and the suspect eventually returned the phone.

Moments later, however, she bumped into him, according to court documents, and snatched the phone out of his hand.

The alleged thief ran across South Main Street while the victim yelled for her to bring back his phone.

“Sherman just yelled obscenities back to him,” a police affidavit said.

District Judge William Fullerton on Tuesday issued a felony arrest warrant for Sherman.
