Sheila Mae Smith
Sheila Mae Smith, 67, of Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday following a period of failing health. She previously lived in Fairview, Okla., Parker Heights, Parker and was raised in Fairview, Butler County.
She was born in Fairview, Butler County, April 29, 1942, and was a daughter of the late William Howard Dodd and Catherine G. "Kate" Stadnyk Dodd.
She was a member of the Franklin Union Baptist Church in Worthington, attended the Karns City schools and had been employed by various nursing homes, namely McCrae and McGinley Nursing homes, near Chicora.
She was known as the family cookie baker.
Her husband, Robert C. Smith, passed away May 28, 2007.
Surviving are stepchildren, Dan and Linda Smith, Mark Smith and Lisa Kerr, Mary Ellen Nikols and Chris Lazzara and Ruthann and Ricky William, all of Oklahoma and John Smith and Charlene Byers of West Sunbury; 19 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Howard "Joe" Dodd and Irene Jones of Fairview, Butler County, and Ronald "Butch" Dodd and Phyllis Dodd of Karns City; a sister, Catherine "Cathy" Mullen and her husband, Paul A., of Fredonia; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her father in 1970 and her mother in 2001.
<B>SMITH </B>— Friends of Sheila Mae Smith, who died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday from the funeral home with the Rev. Scott W. Bunting, pastor of the Fairview United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
