Dorothy Mae Wood Markich, 93, of Butler, formerly of Mars, passed away at Newhaven Court on Saturday to be with her Heavenly Father.

She lived at Newhaven Court for the past seven years.

Born in Gibsonia on March 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Laura Rittman Wood.

She was a former beautician. She also was employed at McGeever's Department Store in Mars for 20 years.

She was a member of the Old Union Presbyterian Church in Mars, the Willing Workers of Old Union Presbyterian Church, AARP and the Women's Club of Butler.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Phillips and her husband, Joseph, of Butler and Nancy Grannan of Mars; one sister, Velma Neese and her husband, Raymond, of Mars; five grandchildren, Susan Murray (James) of Butler, Patrick McCurdy (Jillian) of Butler, Shana Russell (Michael) of Taiwan, Jill Bronder (Carl) of Lancaster, Pa., and Paul Phillips of Butler.

She also is survived by nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Spencer and Rachel Murray of Butler, Teddy Russell of Taiwan, Maggie and Marin McCurdy of Butler and Cory, Samantha and Janelle Bronder of Lancaster, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Markich, who passed away in 1995; one sister, Helen McMullen; and two brothers, Ira Wood and Francis Wood.

MARKICH — Dorothy Mae Wood Markich passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012. Private funeral services were held at Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler. Burial was in Pinewood Memorial Park.A memorial service will be held at a later date.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
