Knoch tops Highlands
Lizzie Danik had three hits and Brynne Smith hit a two-run homer Wednesday as Knoch’s softball team defeated Highlands, 6-1.
Smith had two hits on the day. Sylvia Luffy got the win in the circle, allowing one hit and one run in four innings of pitching.
Seneca Valley 1, Norwin 0 — Lexie Hames continued her superb sophomore season, striking out 19 in a complete-game victory over the Knights.
Emry Rice and Anna Kalkowski both had one hit for the Raiders (11-1, 10-1).
Baseball
Kiski Area 10, Knoch 0 — The Knights (3-12, 2-6) permitted only three hits in this five-inning loss. Mason Phillips and Kyle Morgan singled for Knoch’s only two hits.
The Knights play Freeport on Friday at Pullman Park.

Boys Volleyball
Grant Hoover had 18 kills and Nick Dunmire added 11, but Seneca Valley dropped a 3-1 decision at Canon-McMillan. Scores were 22-25, 25-23. 27-25, 25-20.
Matt Cinker had 22 digs, Peter Breski 26 assists, Steven Mazur 22 assists and Jordan Hoover five blocks.
Boys Tennis
Mars and North Catholic have qualified for the WPIAL team tournament. The Planets are the 13-seed in Class 3A and play at 4-seed Upper St. Clair at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
North Catholic won its section in Class 2A. That tournament will begin at a later date.
Kiski Area 3, Butler 2 — Andrew Bocci and Ben Busler won at No.’s 1 and 2 singles for the Golden Tornado, but a close loss at No. 1 doubles proved to be the difference.

Track and Field
Knoch’s girls completed a perfect regular season at 9-0, defeating Hampton, 88-44, Tuesday. The Knight boys dropped to 6-3 with an 86-54 loss to the Talbots.
Both teams will be advancing to the WPIAL team playoffs next Tuesday.
Karns City senior Cooper Coyle grabbed first place in the 100-meter dash, long jump and triple jump to lead the Gremlins to a 115-33 victory against Clarion-Limestone.

Sam Morganti topped the field in the 100 dash, 400 run and was on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams as Union/A-C Valley’s boys crushed DuBois Central Catholic, 108-24.
The Falcon Knight girls fell to DCC, 103-47.
Moniteau’s Jenna Zendron broke the school record in the 100 dash with a time of 12.64 in an 88-53 win over Freeport.
The previous standard was 12.75 achieved by Gabby Stewart.
The Warriors also prevailed in the boys meet, 83-67.
