Armstrong announced that Dan Conrad has joined the company as vice president and general manager of Armstrong Business.
Conrad has more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, previously serving in commercial and business services roles for Time Warner Cable and AT&T.
In his new position with Armstrong, he will work to expand Armstrong's Internet, cable television and telephone services, to evaluate emerging markets and to serve business customers.
Armstrong, headquartered in Butler Township, provides television, Internet and telephone service in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland.
Hospital gets award for stroke care
Butler Memorial Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.
The award recognizes the hospital's commitment and success in implementing excellent care for stroke patients.
To receive the award, the hospital achieved 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Quality Achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month intervals and achieved 75 percent or higher compliance with six of 10 Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Quality Measures.
The hospital also is a recipient of the association's Target: Stroke Honor Roll, for improving stroke care.
For the second year in a row, Allegheny Mineral Corp.'s limestone quarry near Harrisville earned top honors for surface mine safety.The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association presented employees with the 2012 Safety Award in the Group VI Surface Metal/Non-Metal Mines division for achieving a perfect safety record during 2012.Quarry workers completed 75,537 hours without a lost time accident and maintained an incident rate of zero.Daniel Wible, company safety director, said in a news release, “We could not have received an award of this nature without our employees' unwavering commitment to safety on a daily basis.”Allegheny Mineral, which is a subsidiary of Kittanning-based Snyder Associated Companies, operates four quarries in Western Pennsylvania and employs about 125 people.
