North Catholic High School will take to the stage this weekend with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.”

Students will stage the 2013 revival of a theater favorite at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in the high school auditorium, 1617 Route 228.

Tickets are $12 in advance online and $15 at the door. The Saturday matinee for children 12 and younger is $5. Tickets are available at the door or at northcatholic.org.

Through community outreach with Treasure House Fashions, students are “giving like a fairy godmother,” collecting needed items for women in transition or crisis. Items can be brought to the shows.

Additionally, at the Saturday matinee, children will have an opportunity to transform into princes and princesses. This special performance is complete with crafting stations to make wands and crowns, a storyteller and backdrops for photos. Costumes are encouraged.

For the show, Therese Engelhardt is producer, and Theresa O’Shea is director. Anna Neal is assistant director, and Beth Young and Alison Marschke are costume directors.

Matthew Brown is the accompanist, and Janet Bartlett and Kristen Bixby are the choreographers.

Mallory Floridan and Edward Rosenbusch are stage directors. Samuel Farabee is orchestra director.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musicals never fail to leave you singing, and “Cinderella” did just that when it was brought to television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews. The show was re-created in 1965 and 1997, then adapted into a Broadway production in 2013.

The stage adaptation takes place in a far-off kingdom where a young girl named Ella has been forced to work as a servant for her evil stepmother and two stepsisters. With a little help from her fairy godmother, Ella has the chance to become the belle of the ball and win the heart of Prince Topher.

Will she and her faithful friend also be able to save the kingdom from the controlling Lord Sebastian?
