SV grad Laslavic shines for Behrend

ERIE — Senecva Valley graduate Matthew Laslavic, a member of the Penn State Behrend men’s track and field team, won the javelin event during Sunday’s Behrend Invitational.

Laslavic tossed the javelin 53.36 meters to claim the top spot.

McCullough earns PSAC baseball honor

GREENSBURG — Seneca Valley graduate and Seton Hill University junior baseball player Jon McCullough has been name PSAC West Pitcher of the Week.

McCullough tossed a complete game in the Griffins’ victory over Clarion. He allowed five hits, no earned runs, struck out six and walked none.

Merritt nets 100 for Mars lacrosse

ADAMS TWP — Mars junior McKenna Merritt, a captain of the Mars varsity girls lacrosse team, scored her 100th career goal last week against South Fayette.

Merritt scored three goals and added three assists in the Planets’ 17-4 victory. She registered her 50th career assist in a recent 18-4 win over Chartiers Valley, scoring five goals in that game.
