Red Apple Awards slated April 27PROSPECT — The 12th annual Red Apple Awards will be on April 27 to recognize excellence in teaching.The event is hosted by the United Way of Butler County, and a panel of past winners, current educators and community representatives judge the nominations.Awards are given to one outstanding pre-kindergarten teacher in a Butler County pre-K program, one active teacher in each of the county’s seven public school districts and one instructor from the Butler County Vocational Technical School, the Butler County Community College and Slippery Rock University.The event will feature two keynote speakers discussing innovation, Zach Shumaker and Bob McCafferty, who will discuss brewing.The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. April 27 at the Atrium, 1031 New Castle Road, Prospect.Registration is $10 per person. A-C Valley to enroll kindergarten pupilsFOXBURG, Clarion County — Kindergarten registration for students in the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District will be April 7 to 8.Children are eligible to enroll if they are 5 years old before July 1.Students must have all immunizations completed by the beginning of school.Appointments on April 7 are for students in these communities: Richard Township, Clarion and Venango counties at 8:30 a.m.; City of Parker at 9:15 a.m.; Perry Township at 1 p.m. and Foxburg and Hovey at 1:30 p.m.On April 8, appointments are for students in these communities: Emlenton at 8:30 a.m., St. Petersburg at 9:45 a.m., Scrubgrass Township at 1 p.m. and Allegheny Township at 1:30 p.m.All registration appointments will be at the elementary school, 776 State Route 58 in Parker.Information packets were sent to the families that registered.
