Lois E. Best
Lois E. Best, 81, of Butler died at 9:25 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
Born Oct. 5, 1926, in Erie, she was the daughter of James B. and Neva Townsend Flynn.
She was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, listening to music, playing the violin and clarinet, golfing, dancing, sewing, crafting and cooking.
She was a 1949 graduate of Penn State University with a major in home economics and a minor in science. She belonged to the Butler County Home Economics Club.
She was a retired home economics teacher, having taught in Evans City from 1949 to 1960 and at Mars High school from 1962 to 1983.
Surviving are her husband, C.W. "Jim" Best of Butler, whom she married Aug. 12, 1950; twin daughters, Mrs. William (Sandra) Gamble of Butler and Mrs. David (Sally J.) Settimio of Altoona; a son, Richard and his wife, Lynne, Best of West Sunbury; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bob (Ruth) Bell of Erie and Mrs. Richard (Patty) Metzgar of Durham, N.C.; and a brother, James Flynn of California.
She was preceded by a sister, Phyllis Guerin.
