SV grad Devlin gets MCVL honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Seneca Valley graduate Michael Devlin, a sophomore outside/right hitter for the Baldwin Wallace men’s volleyball team, has been named second team All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League.
Devlin was second on the team, and sixth in the MCVL with 291 kills. He was second on the team, fourth in the league with 3.31 kills per set. He also totaled a career-high nine digs in three matches this season. Devlin was named MCVL Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 31.
Greer, Page help lacrosse victory
NEW WILMINGTON — Seneca Valley graduates Ryan Greer and Brady Page shined for Westminster College in the Titans’ 10-5 men’s lacrosse loss to Saint Vincent recently.
Greer, a senior attack, had a goal, assist and two ground balls and is sitting on 99 career goals. Page, a freshman attack, scored a goal as well.
Vittone sparkles in GCC twinbill sweep
BEAVER FALLS — Eden Christian graduate and Seven Fields resident Luke Vittone had a big day at the plate Wednesday as Grove City College’s baseball team scored a 20-7, 7-1 doubleheader sweep at Geneva.
Vittone collected a double, two singles and three runs scored in the first game. He added a solo home run in the nightcap.
Rocket swimmers dominate region
ERIE — Slippery Rock High School’s girls swim team won District 10, Region 1 this season and placed numerous swimmers on the all-region team.
Molly Massella made first team in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly. Grace Olshanski made first team in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Ann Katherine Burns was first team in the 100 breaststroke.
The Rockets’ 200 medley relay team of Natalie Double, Burns, Massella and Olshanski made first team, as did the team’s 200 free relay unit of Season Grant, Burns. Double and Olshanski.
Double made second team in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. The Rockets’ 400 free relay team of Grant, Tessa Syzmanski, Maddie Gauselmann and Massella made second team as well.
SR’s Sabo earns basketball honor
ERIE — Slippery Rock High School senior John Sabo has been named District 10, Region 5 first team in basketball this season.
Sabo, headed to Slippery Rock University as a wide receiver in football, average 10.8 points and 3.1 assists for the Rockets’ basketball team.
