1:48 a.m. Sunday - Police were called to a major waterline break on Pillow Street. The road was closed from Third Avenue to Bantam Avenue until water company crews were notified and repaired the leak.9:20 p.m. Saturday - Jon Laws, 37, of Clairton, Allegheny County, was arrested for driving under the influence at South Monroe Street and Maple Avenue.1:22 p.m. Friday - Richard Kibe, 22, of 401 W. New Castle St., Apt. 1, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Ashley Fazzoni, 23, at their home. Police said while being assaulted, Fazzoni's face struck the side of the head of the couple's 2½-year-old son.Fazzoni was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for a broken nose suffered in the assault.Kibe, following arraignment on two counts of simple assault and endangering the welfare of the child, was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond.Thursday - Clyde Braun reported someone overnight took a picnic table, two benches and an aluminum chair from his First Street home.
6:10 p.m. Sunday - A state police cruiser driven by Trooper John Benyon, 36, of Butler and a car driven by Nancy Wennerstrom, 53, of Elizabeth, Allegheny County, collided on Route 38 in Eau Claire. Wennerstorm, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered minor injuries. The trooper was not hurt.12:53 a.m. Sunday - Gretchen Salina, 31, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 8 and Evans Road in Butler Township.Sunday - Two suspects, whom police did not identify, allegedly broke into the garage of a Whitestown Road home in Connoquenessing Township and damaged a tub, shower stall, three windows and window screens. John Hanchoski owns the garage, which was burglarized between June 26 and Sunday.5:35 p.m. Saturday - Tanya Schaeffer, 35, of Boyers swerved her vehicle to avoid an animal in the road and struck a tree along Route 308 in Cherry Township. Schaeffer, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken with moderate injuries to United Community Hospital in Grove City.2:25 p.m. Saturday - Cars driven by Earl Oliver, 80, of Summit Township and Daniel Flecker, 18, of Muddy Creek Township collided at Bonniebrook and Portman roads in Summit Township. Both drivers and a passenger in Oliver's car, Loretta Oliver, 79, of Summit Township, all who were wearing seatbelts, suffered minor injuries.11:40 a.m. Saturday - A car driven by Melissa Allen, 33, of Slippery Rock struck a utility pole along West Park Road in Worth Township.Saturday - Someone between 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday smashed two mailboxes along Halston Road in Clay Township.7:50 a.m. Friday - A pickup truck earlier reported stolen was found burned in a wooded area on Herman Road near Vogleyville Road in Summit Township. Matthew Campbell of Petrolia owns the 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.Friday - A metallic blue, 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle valued at $3,000 was taken from the home of James Delprete on May Lane in Forward Township. The theft occurred between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 8 p.m. Friday.
3 a.m. Sunday - A car driven by Gregory McCarty, 22, of Slippery Rock traveled off Route 258 at North Liberty Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County, damaging a yard. Police said McCarty ran from the scene after the crash.12:22 p.m. Saturday - Cars driven by Ying Saen, 25, of Athens, Ohio, and Barbara Fuerst, 58, of Gibsonia, Allegheny County, collided on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township, Mercer County. A passenger in Fuerst's car, Judith Fuerst, 33, of Gibsonia, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken with minor injuries to United Community Hospital in Grove City.
