PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Musical Theater will stage the musical “Miss Saigon” today through Sunday at the Byham Theater.
The setting is 1970s Vietnam for the romance between an American GI and a Vietnamese bar girl.
Based on the Puccini opera “Madame Butterfly,” “Miss Saigon” is a story of war torn love and loss by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil, famous for “Les Misérables.”
The story will be brought to life by the students of the Richard E. Rauh Conservatory. It includes the songs “The Movie in My Mind,” “I Still Believe,” “Why God Why” and “The American Dream.”
Butler County students in the show are Daniel Terwilliger and Clare Stevenson, both of Butler, Jessica Ortiz of Penn Township and Brecken Farrell of Saxonburg.
The Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts school orchestra will perform the score.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
