Rock softball extends streak

SLIPPERY ROCK — Pitchers Kelsi Anderson and Alexsa Hurd produced dominant pitching performances again as the Slippery Rock University softball team swept Seton Hill, 2-1 and 4-0, in a home doubleheader Friday.

The Rock (18-14, 9-5) has won six straight games.

Anderson struck out six and walked none in a complete-game effort in Game 1. Hurd struck out 10 and tossed a one-hitter in Game 2 after homering in the first game.

Slippery Rock travels to Erie for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday against Gannon.

Baseball

The Rock (13-12, 2-8) dropped a doubleheader to California (Pa.) on Friday at Wild Things Park in Washington, Pa. Scores were 6-1 and 5-3.

Joseph Ehland had three hjits in the doubleheader for SRU, as did Noah Ross, who elevated his batting average to .390. Devin Dunn and Joey Purcell were the losing pitchers.

SRU hosts California in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Critchfield Park.
