SR track cruises past Commodore Perry
Slippery Rock’s boys and girls track and field teams had numerous double winners in cruising past Commodore Perry on Wednesday.
The Rocket boys claimed a 118-30 victory while the girls triumphed, 128-20.
On the boys side, Levi Prementine was a triple winner. He took the 110-meter hurdles, high jump and long jump. Eli Anderson won the 100 meters and 300 hurdles, Tyler Arblaster the 200 and 400, Viktor Zahn the 1,600 and 3,200.
For the girls, Tessa Szymanski won the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, Aiva Reich the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Lexi Plesakov the 100 meters and 200 meters.The Rocket girls swept the relays as well: Ashley Ragan, Raely FaJohn, Anora Robare and Haile Halberg won the 4x800 relay, Reagan Yova, Plesakov, Reich and Julia Coffaro the 4x100, Ragan, FaJohn, Robare and Halberg the 4x400.
Slippery Rock will compete in the Butler County Relays on Thursday at Freeport.
Moniteau (girls) 93, Cranberry 48 — Allie Pry won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles and was part of Moniteau’s 400-meter winning relay team that also included Carmella Ryan, Jenna Zendron, Rylee Long.
Zendron took first place in the 400-meter dash, Long in the 200-meter dash and high jump, and Ryan in the pole vault. Other winners include Abbey Jewart (800-meter run), Emma Covert (shot put, discus), and Kendall Sankey (javelin).
The Warriors’ 1,600-meter relay of Lily Staab, Ashley Huffman, Halle Beatty, and Zendron finished first with a time of 4:45.
Boys Tennis
Mars finshed fourth at the WPIAL section singles tournament at North Allegheny, thus qualifying for the WPIAL Tournament.
Moon 4, Seneca Valley 1 — Nathan Craig’s singles win over Aarav Surapaneni (6-4, 6-3) was the highlight of this defeat for the Raiders. Mark Evelsizer fell short to the Tigers’ Alexander Stern 6-0, 6-7, 4-6 (4-7).
Track and Field
Landon Chalmers won the javelin,discus and shot put for Union/A-C Valley’s boys as the team won a triangular over Johnsonburg and DuBois Central. Union/ACV tallied 109 points, Johnsonburg 53 and DuBois Central 23.
Hayden Smith won the high jump and long jump for the Falcon Knights. His high jump was 6 feet, 8 inches. Sam Morganti won the 200 and 400 meters. Also winning events for Union/ACV were Skyler Roxbury in the 110 hurdles, Logan Skibinski in the 100, James Blauser in the 300 hurdles and Aiden Fox in the triple jump.
The Falcon Knight girls tallied 41.5 points in losing to DuBois Central (85) and Johnsonburg (59.5). Danielle Farkas won the 300 hurdles, Hannah Ithen the long jump and Grace Kindel the javelin for Union/ACV.
Softball
Lily Vicari had a run-scoring single, but Butler was limited to four hits in a 9-1 home loss to Hempfield.
Shylee Karenbauer, Kelsey Ogin and Mylei Schaefer also had singles for the Golden Tornado (1-5, 1-3). Ogin struck out six in pitching a complete game.
Butler plays on Tuesday at Canon-McMillan.
Knoch 7, West Mifflin 6 — The Knights won this section clash in 11 innnings with a walk-off single by Brynne Smith. Knoch had 10 base knocks, with Grace Hensch recording three and Carissa Tekely two. Tekely also had three RBIs.
Boys Volleyball
Mars swept Pine-Richland in three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-19. No other details were provided.
