Man charged with child endangerment, drug sales
A Butler man is accused of possessing cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl pills and stolen guns in a house occupied by minors, according to Clarion state police.
Martel D. Mitchell, 28, was charged Tuesday with felonies of drug sales, possessing a prohibited firearm, theft and child endangerment and five misdemeanors of use and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $175,000 bail.
Police said a search warrant was executed at a home on Brady Street in Butler at 9:30 p.m. Monday. Mitchell was inside, along with a woman and three minors.
Mitchell told officers that everything in the home was his, indicating that marijuana, pills and guns would be discovered.
Police seized 48 blue round pills, a sandwich bag filled with cocaine and $2,198 from the master bedroom. The pills were identified as fentanyl pills in charging documents.
A digital scale, two Glock revolvers with ammunition and a container of marijuana were also found in the living room, police said.
Upon further investigation, one of the revolvers was reported stolen by the Duquesne Police Department, police said.
Mitchell told officers he sold the marijuana and provided friends with Percocet pills when asked.
Mitchell’s preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton is scheduled April 3.
