Ronald F. Smith
Ronald Fredrick “Pappis” Smith, 61, of Old Plank Road, Butler, formerly of East Brady, died at 9:52 a.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 1949, in Butler, he was the son of the late Fredrick Eugene Smith and Margaret Szalai Smith.
Ron was a graduate of Butler High School and retired from Holbein Construction.
He is survived by one son, Lance and his wife, Jennifer, Smith of Butler; three daughters, Heather and her husband, Christopher, Sommerville and Connie Moniot and Ashley Smith, all of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Derrick and Noah Shultz, Peyton Sommerville, Korina and Norma Smith, Kinsey McCaslin, Jaden Smith, Nathan and Matthew Dillon and Destiny Moniot; one great-grandchild; one brother, Gene Smith; two sisters, Connie Codispot and Vicki Smith; two sister-in-laws, Dora Holbein and her daughter, Megan, and Mary Holbein and her son, Richard; one brother-in-law, Bud Holbein and his daughters, Stacey and Carrie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen J. Smith, who he married Oct. 27, 1975, and who passed away Aug. 17, 2006.
<B>SMITH</B> — Friends of Ronald Fredrick “Pappis” Smith, who died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Services immediately will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Brenda Sommerville, friend of the family and mother of Ron’s son-in-law, officiating.
