The sixth annual VillageFest will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in Slippery Rock. Nearly 170 booths will be placed along Main Street, between Cooper and New Castle streets. A wide variety of items will be sold, from handmade jewelry to house plants. Vendors and the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department will offer food. The Jimmy Bashline Memorial Sale and Exhibit will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Butler YWCA, 120 W. Cunningham St. A collection of about 35 of the late James Bashline's original paintings and woodcarvings will be available for show and sale.

Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., features a display of 19 Japanese samurai dolls through 2008, plus its permanent exhibits of hundreds of pieces of ancient and contemporary Asian art, as well as Meissen porcelain. This salon-style exhibition celebrates Pittsburgh's 250th birthday by featuring the work of 250 southwestern Pennsylvania artists from fourteen counties. Representing Butler County are Debbie Kuminkoski, Akiko Kotani and Rhoda Taylor. Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, glass, jewelry and fiber arts will be showcased, as well as work in less conventional mediums. The exhibit will continue through Jan. 10.
