Butler outslugs Indians in 14-13 win
Aaron Ordy had a triple and two singles to lead a 15-hit attack as the Butler High baseball team edged North Hills in a slugfest, 14-13, at Highfield Park Monday afternoon.
The Golden Tornado (2-16 overall, 2-9 in the section) used an eight-run third inning to take an 11-4 lead and hung on after that for the win.
T.J. Bayer also had three hits for Butler.
Brian Bell got the win for the Golden Tornado.
In other action:
John Lefevre scattered seven hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking no one as Knoch shut out Mars 5-0.
Bob Kruth had three hits and Dan Pickard doubled, singled and drove in two runs for the Knights (10-9).
Tyler Callihan surrendered just two hits and struck out 14, but Karns City was blanked by Cranberry 1-0 in a game that took 1 hour, 15 minutes to play.
The Gremlins managed just a Ryan Earley single in the loss.
Callihan was dominant, but surrendered a solo home run in the top of the seventh to seal the game.
Beau Fisher drove in pinch runner Ray Orr with a single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Grove City to a 9-8 win over Erie McDowell.
Fisher, Bill Herman and Jesse Alfreno hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the second inning for the Eagles (11-4, 7-2).

It was a record-setting day for the Karns City boys and girls track and field teams.The Karns City boys extended their winning streak to 53 over the last four years with a 114-32 win over A-C Valley.The seniors on the team have never lost a meet. The Gremlins finished the season 13-0.The 400-meter relay team of Mark Ferguson, Steve Black, Josh Fiscus and David Black tied a school record with a time of 44.7 seconds.The Karns City girls also beat A-C Valley, 115-30.In that meet Tausha Bowser set the school record in the pole vault, clearing 8 feet, 7 inches.
