8:15 a.m. Sunday — Acar driven by Matthew Hayes, 38, of Prospect went over an embankment and hit a tree along Route 488 in Muddy Creek Township.When troopers arrived, they found the badly damaged car but Hayes was gone, according to a police report. Police at 10 a.m. interviewed Hayes, who suffered minor injuries, at Butler Memorial Hospital.Hayes blamed icy road conditions for the crash; he claimed he was traveling 20 mph when he lost control of his car. The police report noted that Hayes was cited for driving too fast for conditions and not wearing a seat belt.6:45 a.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Joyce Zickefoose, 38, of Harrisville hit an embankment after sliding off ice-covered Route 8 in Mercer Township. The pickup overturned and traveled back onto the road before landing on its roof.8:18 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Darla Whitlach, 46, of West Sunbury crashed on Unionville Road in Franklin Township. Whitlach was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Saturday — Shane Jakubovic of Slippery Rock reported that someone between 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday stole aportable global positioning system receiver from a car on Cameron Drive in Slippery Rock Township.4:22 p.m. Friday — Michael Ritzert, 46, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his 1984 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe truck struck two other vehicles before hitting an embankment and rolling three times on Fairmont Road in Fairview Township.Police said Ritzert's truck first struck a 2008 International Harvester truck driven by Ray Anderson, 69, of Troutdale, Va., before hitting another vehicle driven by Joseph Hartman Jr., 33, of Butler.5:48 p.m. Thursday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Dave Povlick, 38, of Butler and Paul Bohin, 64, of Fenelton collided on Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township. Police said Povlick, who left the scene, faces undisclosed traffic violations in the crash.
