Symphonic Sonata Violinist is guest artist at Feb. 7 performance
Butler County Symphony Orchestra will present “Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony” for the group’s next concert Feb. 7.
Violinist Andrew Sords will be the guest artist. He will perform “Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1” followed by “Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.”
Sords is an American born violinist who has performed with more than 100 orchestras across North America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Netherlands and Australia.
Concert selections will include: “Masquerade Overture” by Nielsen and “Violin Concerto No. 1” in g minor by Bruch, in addition to “Symphony No. 2” by Rachmaninoff.
Butler Symphony music director and conductor Matthew Kraemer will present a pre-concert lecture beginning at 6:30 p.m. The lecture will include snippets of the music to be performed.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.
