Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — A former Walmart cashier was charged with allowing more than $400 worth of merchandise to pass through her register without the customer paying for it Feb. 11.The suspect, Melinda Sue Andre, 25, of Butler is charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft. Police filed the case following an internal investigation at the Butler Commons store.Jackson Twp PoliceFriday — Police charged Randi K. Campbell, 22, of Avalon, Allegheny County, with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash Feb. 6 on Route 19. Campbell's car hit a guardrail and ended in the median.She was arrested and taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.19 percent, according to court documents, more than double the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.In addition to driving under the influence, Campbell is charged with driving too fast for conditions.State Police, Clarion8:50 a.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt when a car driven by Shane A. Thompson, 29, of Emlenton was rear-ended by another car on Main Street at Second Street in Shippenville. Thompson's car was stopped to make a turn when it was hit by the vehicle driven by Newton Booth, 79, of Strattanville.Booth's passenger, Norbert C. Gallagher, 83, was taken to Clarion Hospital with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. Booth was cited for an unspecified traffic violation.5:54 a.m. Friday — A New York City area woman lost control of his car and crashed into a Jersey barrier before hitting an embankment on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township, Butler County. Dawn C. Perrone, 48, of Ronkonkoma was cited for driving too fast for conditions.State Police, Kittanning8:35 p.m. Tuesday — A 25-year-old man ended up hospitalized in Pittsburgh after he was assaulted by an unknown man in North Buffalo Township.The alleged victim, Joshua Smith of Kittanning, apparently was intoxicated when he got into an altercation with the suspect. Smith got home and fell into his bathtub, hitting his head. He was taken to ACMH Hospital in Kittanning before a medical helicopter flew him to UPMC Presbyterian. His condition was not known this morning.6:23 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a pickup truck driven by David R. Stuebgen, 47, of Fenelton was rear-ended by a car on Route 28 in Aspinwall, Allegheny County. Jill E. Guy, 32, of Pittsburgh was driving the car.Guy's passenger, Nicholas M. Guy, 13, of Pittsburgh, was taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.Guy, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, was cited for driving too closely to another vehicle.Tuesday — Zachary James Nulph, 21, of Worthington was arrested on charges he stole three guns from a home on Second Street in Rayburn Township earlier this month.Nulph is accused of taking the guns — a .22-caliber rifle, 20-gauge shotgun with a gold trigger and a .357 Magnum — on Feb. 4. Police said they found the defendant on Tuesday hiding at an unidentified home. He allegedly confessed to stealing the guns.Feb. 6 — An unknown identity thief used the personal information of a 28-year-old East Brady woman to open a cell phone service account and buy four cell phones.State Police, Mercer4:53 p.m. Feb. 10 — An unidentified shoplifter stole a purse valued at $1,000 from the Coach store at the Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. Police described the suspect as a black female.
