Ruth E. Voegtly, 80, of Harmony died Sunday at UPMC.

Mrs. Voegtly was born June 22, 1930, in Zelienople and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Zelienople, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Willing Workers.

She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Voegtly also was a member of the Friends in Christ group, the Harmony Historical Society, where she was known as "The General," and was a 50-year member of the Zelienople Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and loved baking cookies.

She is survived by two sons, Richard J. Voegtly and his wife, Joan, of Harmony and Robert A. Voegtly and his wife, Johnnie, of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Rebecca E. Moran and her husband, Kelly, of Lawton, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Kasianides, Sarah Gill, Jacob Voegtly, Seth, Matthew and Emily Moran, and Salina and Jenna Voegtly; and five great-grandchildren, Eleni, Anna and Grace Kasianides, and Henry and Anthony Gil.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. "Dick" Voegtly, the last burgess and first mayor of Zelienople, who died Aug. 12, 1997; and 12 siblings.

<B>VOEGTLY</B> — Friends of Ruth E. Voegtly, who died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 215 N. Main St., Zelienople, PA 16063, with the Rev. William W. Brewer, her church pastor, officiating.
