Slippery Rock beats Conneaut, 49-14

William Mokel threw three touchdown passes — all going to wideout John Sabo — as Slippery Rock overcame an early deficit to crush Conneaut (OH) on the road, 49-14, Friday night.

The Rockets trailed 14-7 entering the second quarter, but scored the final six touchdowns of the game.

One of Mokel's scoring passes went for 87 yards. He also ran for a touchdown, as did Ryan Montgomery and Brett Galcik.

Montgomery returned an interception for another score.

Slippery Rock (2-0, 4-0) hosts Hickory next Friday.

Union/A-C Valley 41, Port Allegany 8 — Dawson Camper had 13 carries for 225 yards and three touchdowns for the Falcon Knights (4-1). Mike Card led the defense with eight tackles while Ryan Cooper added six tackles.

Landon Chalmers had two quarterback sacks in the victory. Quarterback Bailey Crissman rushed for two touchdowns.

Brookville 39, Moniteau 6 — David Dessicino completed 12 passes for 118 yards and the quarterback rushed for 95 yards for the Warriors (1-4), but Moniteau could not overcome Brookville's passing attack.

The first three Raider scores were Charlie Krug touchdown passes.

Matt Martino rushed for the Warriors' lone touchdown. Cooper Boozel caught four passes for 57 yards. Dessicino and Logan Campbell had nine tackles each, Martino and Maverick Sutton eight.

North Catholic 56, Burrell 0 — The Trojans (3-0, 6-0) won via shutout for the fourth time in six games.

Apollo-Ridge 41, Summit Academy 22 — In the Allegheny Conference opener for both teams, Summit (0-1, 0-6) scored its most points in a game this season, but fell to the host Vikings.

Jayden Sharpless scored three goals Thursday night as North Catholic cruised to a 10-0 win over Ambridge on the Trojanettes' Senior Night.Scoring single tallies were Lindsey Pawlawski, Alexis Wateska, Angela Berkey, Lauren MacDonald, Lily Karsman, Makenzie DeBlassio and Rylie Kumer.The Trojanettes host Beaver Wednesday.

Slippery Rock junior Jacob Wolak is tied for fourth after the first day of the District 10 Individual Championships at Meadville Country Club.Wolak carded a 77. His round included an eagle and three birdies. Slippery Rock teammate Jack Hadley also made the cut with an 84.Tee times were set to resume at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Owen Denny scored the lone goal for Butler — his first varsity goal — in the Golden Tornado's 7-1 loss to Armstrong in the championship game of the Steven Bryan Memorial Tournament. EJ Delaney made 35 saves.Butler reached the title game by defeating Cathedral Prep, 3-2. Adam Deal, Colton Gregory and Parker Worsely scored goals for the Tornado. Delaney had 19 saves.
