RELIGIOUS ROUNDUP

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Caravan Kids Club of Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church to receive assignments. The club staff will have a planning meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Chrisann Green. Participants should take a dish to pass.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Layperson Wayne Rideout will conduct the 6:30 p.m. Saturday service at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. The Rev. Cloyd Osborne will lead the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

Anyone interested in being discussion leaders or member hosts for the 40 Days of Purpose home Bible study in September should contact the church office.

The youth group will host the annual camping trip Aug. 20 to 22. Sign-up sheets are in the narthex.

During August, tuna and noodles are being collected for Covenant Food Cupboard.

CHRIST'S OUTREACH

A Praise Fest will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave. If raining, the event will be held in the gymnasium. Activities include face painting, clowns, balloons, kettle corn, ice cream and hot dogs. The contemporary Christian band Innerchange, the church choir and several soloists will provide music. Participants should take lawn chairs or blankets.

The Tom Walker family will provide southern gospel style music at the Rapid Tappets Classic Car Show from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cascade Park, Route 65, New Castle.

Lauran Gillespie and Lori Russo Mashuda will provide music at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

Members interested in assembling crisis care kits for disasters should call 724-283-8407 for information.

The final session of the women's Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Bible study will resume in the fall.

COMMUNITY ALLIANCE

The K.I.D.S. Club of Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, will begin Sept. 8. The club, for children 3 years old to grade 5, is held from 6:45 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

M.O.M.S. will begin Sept. 9., 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.

FAITH FELLOWSHIP

Members of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive, will be hosting the Gospel Tent at the south shore of Lake Arthur for this weekend's Lake Arthur Regatta. Activities and entertainment will be available for children and adults.

FIRST BAPTIST

Members of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will attend a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game Friday at PNC Park. Participants should meet at 5 p.m. in the church parking lot for transportation. Cost is $10.

Members of the Kingdom Seekers Sunday school class wll meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the North Shore of Lake Arthur for swimming, boating and an evening dinner. Participants should take chairs, towels, bathing suits, a dish to share, meat and drinks for their own families and a personal grill.

FIRST U.M.

An Open Mike Night will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday in Epworth Center at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St. For information, call Rich Wilson at 724-283-6160.

The Riders Group will meet for a dinner ride at 6 p.m. Friday.

The mission team will leave for Africa on Sunday.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Beverly Antes will provide special music for the Sunday service at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St. Children's church will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Mop in the Park will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Connoquenessing Park.

FIRST PRESBY OF BAKERSTOWN

Lighthouse executive director Vern Borchert will lead the Sunday services at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 at Heckert Road.

GLADE RUN U.P.

A potluck dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m.

GRACE LUTHERAN

The youth of Grace Lutheran Church, 220-226 New Castle St., will hold a car wash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wendy's at Clearview Mall.

The family picnic will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Dogwood Shelter, Lutherlyn. Participants should take a tureen, place settings, swimming gear and chairs.

A Rally Day preparation meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. During this time, cleaning and decorating for the upcoming Sunday school year will be done.

HILL U.P.

Jim Ihlenfeld will deliver the message at the 6 p.m. Saturday service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. Music will be provided by the praise team.

Youth will meet at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the youth lounge to prepare bag lunches for the community.

A Pampered Chef fund-raiser will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the fellowship hall. Refreshments will be served. Orders are due to Phyllis Beale by Aug. 21.

The Worship without Walls service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 22 in the Carousel Shelter at Alameda Park. The annual church picnic will follow. Participants with last names beginning with A through M should take a dessert, those with last names beginning with N through Z should take a side dish. Meat, drinks and table service will be provided.

Crackers are being collected for the Covenant Food Cupboard this month.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBY

A prayer ministry will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Worship Center at Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old West 422.

NEW LIFE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

The Nehemiah Team of New Life Christian Ministries, Knoch School Auditorium, 345 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at The Bridge, 102 Bay St., Penn Township.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

The women's Wednesday night Bible study group of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Saturday at CiCi's restaurant.

The All-Church Summer Family Picnic will be held at noon Sunday in the Lions Shelter at Alameda Park. Participants should take a picnic basket and lawn chairs. Beverages and table service will be provided. Swimming in the Alameda Pool will be available for $4 for each person, or free for children age two and younger. Admission is half-price after 4:30 p.m.

OLD UNION PRESBY

Elder Kaye Reiber of Calvin Church in Zelienople will led the Sunday service at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

Members interested in serving meals to the Kiwanis Club on Tuesday evenings in September should sign up in the back of the church.

Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, will take the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper to residents of the Passavant Retirement Community at 3 p.m. Sunday in the center's Seaman Chapel.

RIDER LUTHERAN

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Rider Lutheran Church, 189 Rider Church Road, West Sunbury. The Rev. Dennis Hindman will officiate.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

A chili and pie cook-off will be held after the 10 a.m. Sunday service at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City. Winners will be sent to the Penn West Harvest Festival on Sept. 6 at Camp Living Waters.

ST. RICHARD R.C.

The youth group of Saint Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will sell hoagies following the Saturday and Sunday Masses this weekend. Cost is $5.

Eucharistic Adoration will be held from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 19.

Theology on Tap will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at the North Park Lounge in the Oxford Athletic Club.

A new shrine will be dedicated to the victims of violence at 11 a.m. Aug. 22. The shrine was erected by Greg Gillis to complete his Eagle Scout requirements.

TRINITY PRESBY

Volunteers from Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., will serve the community meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church. Participants should use the side entrance.
