Seven Fields looks to hire 2 full-time officers

SEVEN FIELDS — Officials are looking to fill two full-time officer positions after accepting the resignation of an officer at the police department meeting Monday night.

“We are sad to see him go,” said Dawn Servello, a commissioner with the Evans City/Seven Fields Regional Police Department, of office Jason Gillotti. “He was a good personality in our department.”

Officials also are working to hire a fifth full-time officer in a department expansion approved last year.

Commissioners approved hiring Michael Podolec and Chris Scalise as new part-time officers.

Scalise lives in Mars and spent the last year working as a part-time officer in Sharpsville Borough.

Podolec, a recent police academy graduate, lives in Cranberry Township and will begin later this spring. A recent fall led to a broken wrist which has prevented Podolec from passing a needed shooting certification. He expects to be fully healed by mid-March.

Commissioners also approved training for three officers including supervisor training for Cpl. Scott Longdon and highway drug training for officers Richard Conti and Jamie Mondzelewski.
