Regis R. Ferrere

Regis R. Ferrere, 82, of Boyers Road, Forestville, died at 11:10 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Born in Boyers, Sept. 1, 1927, he was the son of Marcel P. Ferrere and Anna M. (Fazelas) Ferrere.

A 1946 graduate of Grove City High School, he worked for U.S. Steel of Saxonburg and Boyers, retiring in 1984 after 35 years.

He was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church of Forestville. He was involved in many activities of the church, including, most recently, ringing the bell.

He was a member of the Boyers Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a devoted father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Anna F. (Kale) Ferrere, whom he married Oct. 1, 1949. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 27 in Butler.

Also surviving are five daughters, Joyce A. Flinner and her husband, DuWayne, of Prospect, Karen M. Schmidt and her husband, David, of Spring, Texas, Paula K. Maloney and her husband, Roy, of Greenville, Rita L. Ferrere of Forestville and Diane C. Merkle and her husband, Gregory, of Grove City; two sons, Regis M. Ferrere of Forestville and Ronald D. Ferrere of Butler; grandchildren, Kristen Kindya, Sara Merkle, Hannah Schmidt and Gina Maloney; two sisters, Veronica Dobson and her husband, Gale, of Boyers and Florine Plavny of Slippery Rock; and a brother, Marcel P. Ferrere and his wife, Donna, of Grove City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

<B>FERRERE</B> — Friends of Regis R. Ferrere, who died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Forestville, with the Rev. Kevin G. Poecking officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter Parish, 342 Normal Ave., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
