Mich. man arrested on drug charges

CRANBERRY TWP — A Michigan man was charged Friday for possessing and selling drugs last October.

Aaron D. Mathews, 25, of Warren, Mich., was arrested and charged Friday with two counts of felony drug possession and delivery.

Police reports say Mathews on Oct. 28, 2015, sold 0.7 of a gram of heroin for $150 to a confidential informant at the upper parking lot of the Cranberry Mall.

The heroin was submitted to the state police laboratory for further drug analysis.

Agent Richard Woznicki of the state attorney general’s office provided the informant a photograph of Mathews, which the informant positively identified as “Cash.”

Woznicki field tested the suspected heroin and observed a positive response.

The Attorney General’s office did not say why Mathews was in Cranberry Township last week, a drive of more than four hours from Warren, Mich.

“Apparently the defendant turned himself in at a later time because he was wanted on other charges in Beaver County,” said Jeff Johnson, assistant press secretary at the attorney general’s office.

Mathews also was arraigned at Judge David Kovach’s office and released on $10,000 bail.

His preliminary hearings are scheduled for 11 a.m. May 6 and for 10 a.m. May 13.
