Taoufik snaps Butler indoor high jump mark

Sami Taoufik wasted no time putting his name in the Butler record book this season.

The Golden Tornado opened the 2020 indoor track season Saturday with the first Tri-State Coaches Association meet at Edinboro University and Taoufik had a high jump of six feet, eight inches. That snapped the school's previous indoor record of 6-6, set by Andy Cunningham in 1998.

Taoufik won the high jump at the meet. The Tornado's Gabby Boden won the girls 200 meters and anchored two winning relay teams.

Butler's boys won three relay events.

Butler returns to action Friday at the SRU High School Meet and at Edinboro for TSTCA Meet #2.
