Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Butler County

Eagle Staff Report

The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Butler County until 3:30 p.m.

Affected areas include Slippery Rock, Prospect, Harrisville, Chicora, Cabot and Petrolia.

The alert warns of 60 mph winds, and penny-sized hail is possible.

According to an early-Friday morning Twitter post from the weather service, damaging wind is the primary threat. It went on to say any clouds have potential to produce a downpour and could lead to flash flooding, especially in urban and more prone areas.

This story is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
