Mary Jane McGowan
Mary Jane McGowan, 88, formerly of West Liberty Road, Slippery Rock/West Liberty, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Orchard Manor nursing home, Grove City.
Born in Claytonia, Clay Township, April 23, 1923, she was the daughter of Frank Gorencic and Mary Legan Gorencic.
She married Joseph G. McGowan on Oct. 21, 1968, and he died Dec. 20, 2006.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the Slippery Rock School District in custodial department for many years.
Mrs. McGowan was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.
She enjoyed baking.
Surviving are three sons, Richard John McGowan of Slippery Rock, Robert Joseph McGowan and his wife, Janet, of Harrisville, and David W. McGowan of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two daughters, Sheila M. Bosch and her husband, Edmund, of Slippery Rock/West Liberty and Sharon E. Christy and her husband, Larry, of Grove City. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dan and Charles McGowan; two sisters, Mabel Pauline Gorencic and Anna Holmes; and four brothers, Frank, Edward, John and Joseph Gorencic.
<B>MCGOWAN</B> — Services for Mary Jane McGowan, who died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, will be at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Friday with Father Kevin Poecking, pastor of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Visitation will be at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at the St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.
