Rock softball takes pair from Bowie St.

Slippery Rock University softball pitchers Lisa Getgen and Shauna Walker combined to limit Bowie State (Md.) to one run on two hits in The Rock's 9-1, five-inning home win in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

SRU also won the second game, 8-6.

In Game One, Getgen started and gave up one earned run on two hits in four innings before Walker pitched the final inning.

SRU third baseman Jessica Ellebruch tallied two doubles and two runs scored while designated hitter Meghan McHenry blasted a three-run homer.

Getgen started the second game, but the win went to Sheree Horvath, who pitched the fifth and sixth innings and was the recipient of a seven-run sixth frame by The Rock's offense that erased a 3-1 deficit.

In that inning, SRU (24-14) managed five hits.

Right fielder Shardea Croes and Ellebruch each tallied two hits in the win.
