The temperature in the region on Thursday could come close to breaking the record for highest temperature recorded for Feb. 23, which follows the recent record-breaking temperature of 71 degrees Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Michael Brown, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, said that although it will be the windiest day of the week, Thursday’s temperature might break a record.

“The next three days are going to be pretty mild, each day a little warmer than the last,” Brown said. “Record high recorded at the Pittsburgh airport is 70 (for Feb. 23), and we are going to be very close to that.”

The expected high is in the upper 40s for Tuesday, in the low-50s for Wednesday and in the upper 60s for Thursday, Brown said. He said the region will get some rain Tuesday followed by a larger volume of rain Wednesday, which will continue off and on until Thursday morning.

The average temperatures Friday and Saturday are predicted to be in the 30s, according to Brown, getting back to temperatures more consistent with the time period.
