Butler junior Matt Slamecka won the Section 2-AAA boys tennis title Tuesday with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 win over North Allegheny's Matt Smith at Oxford Athletic Club.

"(Smith) has a very good serve and Matt was able to return it well today," said Butler coach Dave Hartzell. "That allowed him to keep the pressure on."

Slamecka, who has been Butler's top singles player since his freshman season, placed second in the section as a sophomore.

He will compete in the WPIAL singles tournament April 16 and 17.
