Using the long ball

Kevan Smith and John Sklarsky both belted home runs to lead Seneca Valley to a 5-1 baseball win over North Hills Wednesday .

Pitcher Jason Davis surrendered just three hits in a complete-game win for the Raiders (6-0, 3-0).

In other action:

Zach Toth struck out 10 and fired a four-hit shutout to lead Knoch to a 2-0 win over Kiski in the section opener.

Toth has given up just one earned run in 17 inning.

Nathan Markle was dominating, striking out 12 on the way to a two-hit shutout in Moniteau's 4-0 win over Clarion.

It was the Warriors' first game of the season.

Mike Skurko homered and pitched well, but was the victim of seven errors behind him and five unearned runs as Mars fell to Burrell 8-1.

Valley toppled Freeport 6-2. No other information was available.
