7:05 p.m. Sunday — An unidentified vehicle a struck a car at North Washington and West Brady streets and did not stop after the crash. Helen Solobay, 79, of Jefferson Township was driving the car.7:14 p.m. Saturday — Vans driven by Thomas Matson, 47, of Summit Township and Edward McKissick, 36, of Butler collided on North Main Street. Apassenger in McKissick's van, Logan McKissick, 6, was treated for minor injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital. The child was secured in a safety seat.10:29 p.m. Tuesday — Acar driven by John Zeiler, 33, of Butler Township struck a parked car on Mercer Street. Zeiler, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for minor injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital. Darlene Teuteberg of Slippery Rock owns the car that was parked.
Saturday — Four people were arrested for driving under the influence during a roving patrol detail conducted between 11 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday on Routes 910 and 8 and Bakerstown, Bairdford and Oak roads in Richland and West Deer townships.Officers stopped 37 vehicles during the checkpoint. In addition to the DUI arrests, one person was charged with possession of marijuana and two were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Also, three people were cited for underage drinking, and one each for public drunkenness and driving with a suspended license.
10:55 p.m. Saturday — Acar driven by Jacob Timko, 16, of Sarver struck a utility pole at Leasureville and Bear Creek roads in Winfield Township.2 p.m. Saturday — Kenneth Mickey, 48, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle at Route 68 and Fared Drive in Oakland Township.Police said the crash pushed the SUV, driven by Rose Files, 75, of Chicora, about 300 feet from the point of collision. Mickey was also cited for careless driving.2:55 a.m. Saturday — Richard McClung, 25, of Boyers was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Route 8 in Mercer Township.McClung, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken with moderate hand and neck injuries to Grove City Medical Center. In addition to DUI, he was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Saturday—Three vehicles in Jefferson Township were damaged by rocks possibly thrown by the same vandals riding in a car.Tina Shearer of Butler told police she was backing out of the driveway of her Great Belt Road home about 9:45 p.m. when her car's rear window was hit by a rock thrown out of an unidentified vehicle that drove by.About two hours earlier, Brian Swope said he was driving at Bullcreek and Patterson roads when a thrown rock smashed the windshield of his pickup.Meanwhile, Erica Swope said someone between 5 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday broke out a side window of a car parked at her Hannahstown Road home.Saturday — Apressure lubricator was taken from an oil well along West Danville Road in Oakland Township. The theft occurred between 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Edward Craig of Chicora owns the stolen property valued at $300.
5:05 p.m. Saturday — Joseph Lux Jr., 31, of Sarver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he ran into the woods in a failed attempt to avoid a sobriety checkpoint operation on Route 128 near the ball fields in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County.Police said Lux had driven up to other vehicles stopped for the DUI detail and pulled into a driveway at a home. He got out of his car, and ran off but was caught.7:33 p.m. Friday — Alex Spangler, 20, of Shelocta was arrested after police allegedly found 48 stamps bags of suspected heroin in his car stopped for traffic violations on Route 422 neat the Graft Bridge in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County.Spangler is charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and two undisclosed traffic violations. Police also noted the defendant is wanted on separate drug charges in Allegheny County.Spangler is being held in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
6:55 p.m. Saturday—Asport utility vehicle driven by Donald Thompson, 26, of Grove City struck an embankment and tree, and rolled over several times along Route 258 near Route 208 in Liberty Township, Mercer County.Thompson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter with moderate injuries to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.3:35 p.m. Friday—Acar driven by Michael Kracko, no age given, of Boardman, Ohio, and a tractor-trailer driven by Kevin Irwin, no age given, of Culloden, W. Va., collided on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.Kracko, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for minor injuries at Grove City Medical Center.
