Cottrill

Dale Edward “Eddie” Cottrill, 77, of Butler died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday at his home.

Born Sept. 16, 1933, in Blairsville, he was the son of the late Virgil C. Cottrill and Stella (Ramsden) Cottrill.

Mr. Cottrill worked as a slitter operator at Butler Armco, retiring on March 31, 1992.

He was Lutheran by faith.

Mr. Cottrill was a member of the North American Hunting Club, the National Rifle Association, the United Sportsmen of Pennsylvania and the American Kennel Club.

He enjoyed hunting, reloading shells for friends and family. Mr. Cottrill also was an automobile enthusiast.

Mr. Cottrill is survived by three daughters, Jacque and her husband, William Gombos, of Parker, Judith and her husband, Kenneth Fleeger, of West Sunbury and Diana and her husband, Mark Waldron, of Butler; three sons, Alan E. Cottrill and his wife, Teresa, of Slippery Rock, James Cottrill of West Sunbury and Randal Mickey and his wife, Cynthia, of Slippery Rock; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris and her husband, Harry F. Sintz, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his first wife, Thelma Marie Brown.

Mr. Cottrill was preceded in death by his wife, Vernna Ruth Cottrill, who he married Jan. 14, 1974, and passed away Nov. 18, 2002; and by one brother and one sister.

<B>COTTRILL</B> — Friends of Dale Edward “Eddie” Cottrill, who died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Donald Short of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church officiating.
