As part of its annual holiday show and sale, the Associated Artists of Butler County will host pictures with Santa from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Art Center, South Main Street.
Cost is $2 for a picture. A holiday ornament workshop for kids will be held for free.
Raffle tickets will be available for the chain saw sculpture "Two Owls"by Ken Tynan.
BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps will host free Child Check developmental screenings for children age 5 and younger from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Adagio Health, 323 Sunset Drive, Suite 1, Center Township, and at Dutilh United Methodist Church, Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township.Each screening takes about 30 minutes, and results will be discussed with parents immediately.Appointments are recommended. HARMONY — The board of directors of Historic Harmony is now accepting written nominations for its 2007 Heritage Awards to be presented Feb. 10 at the annual Harmoniefest Dinner.Awards are presented in two categories. The first recognizes preservation, restoration or renovation of historic sites. The other is for a person who encourages appreciation of local history.Nominations are due Dec. 31 and should detail the reason for a project's historical value or why a person or organization is worthy of recognition for their efforts.All nominations must include the nominee's name, activity, address and phone number and the name, address and phone number of the submitter. Entries can be mailed to Heritage Awards, Box 524, Harmony, PA 16037.
The World Heritage student exchange program is seeking a local representative to provide program support to foreign students studying locally.Community representatives will screen potential host families, plan orientations, meet with high schools and provide support counseling for participants. HARRISVILLE — Donations are now being sought for an auction to be held Feb. 10 to benefit the family of Gary Pink of Slippery Rock Township, who has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.New and slightly used items and donated services will be accepted. Clothing and mattresses will not be accepted.Monetary donations to purchase advertising will also be accepted.All donations are needed by Feb. 1.
