Ruth Janet Edwards, 73, of Portersville, formerly of Cranberry Township, died Wednesday at her home.

Born May 9, 1936, in Hastings, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John J. and Edna (Weakland) Kovach.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople.

She is survived by her husband, Charles James Edwards Sr., who she married Dec. 14, 1953; three daughters, Barbara Jean Stewart and her husband, Timothy, of Portersville, Diana L. Schmiedel and her husband, Harry, of Evans City and Mary C. Ehni of Dormont; a son, Charles James Edwards Jr. of Churchton, Md.; three brothers, John J. Kovach of Patton, Pa., William Kovach of Northern Cambria, Pa., and Robert E. Kovach and his wife, Iris, of Colorado; three sisters, Bernadette Horengic and her husband, John, of Lanham, Md., Kathleen Morris of Maryland and Constance A. Church and her husband, Curtis, of Palm Bay, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
