Donald S. Kelly, 85, of Bruin, died late Tuesday evening at ACMH Hospital, Kittanning, following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 1, 1924, in Bruin, he was the son of the late William Lincoln and Flora Stewart Kelly.

Employed by the former Kopper's Chemical Co. in Petrolia for more than 40 years, he retired from the shipping department in 1984.

Don owned and pumped wells in northern Butler County most of his adult life. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Independent Petroleum Producers.

He and his late wife owned and operated the Kelly Trailer Park in Bruin for many years.

He, along with various family members, enjoyed dining at a multitude of area eating establishments for many years, and along with dining enjoyed visiting with the host of friends he knew along the way.

Following retirement, he made transporting his grandchildren to and from school a primary function of his daily life, which made him known as the family bus driver.

Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Diane and Jerome Macurak of Bruin; two sons, Donald A. Kelly and wife Linda of Bruin and David W. Kelly and companion Jessica of Bruin; nine grandchildren, Kristen and Justin Macurak, Tiffany, Danielle, Katherine, William A., and Robert (all Kelly), Beth Ann Fleming, and Jenna Stone; 10 great-grandchildren, Aliya Adams, William, Gwynth, Madison and Zachery Kelly, Eric Dodd, Wyatt Fleming, Chloe Kelly, Gabriel and Haley Stone; a sister, Helen F. Leavy of Foxburg; two sisters-in-law, Louise Slagle of Bruin and Shirley Andre of Chicora; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Barger "Cricket" Kelly, who he married April 27, 1948, and who passed away Dec. 5, 2005. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Allen Kelly.
