PENN TWP — Several police departments were notified Tuesday to be on the lookout for a tractor -trailer that drove away from the site of an accident with a motorcycle on Route 8.
Bill Youngker of Valencia said he was driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the right lane of Route 8 southbound about 1 p.m. when he came up on a white tractor-trailer that was either stopped or moving slowly near the intersection with Penn Drive.
He hit the rear of the truck and slid on a gravel driveway.
Youngker said he suffered road rash and had pain in his left side that he was going to have checked at a hospital.
The tractor-trailer and another vehicle, that Youngker said was tailgating him at the time, both drove away before police arrived.
Officer Jack Ripper of the Penn Township Police said that leaving the scene of an accident would be a criminal offense, but the driver may not have realized what had happened.
“I bet he didn’t even feel it,” he said.
Ripper said he notified neighboring departments to look for a truck hauling a white trailer with a black or orange mark from the motorcycle.
