Todorich

Joseph T. Todorich, 81, of Seybertown Road, East Brady, formerly of Route 268, Sugarcreek Township, died at 8:35 a.m. Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh following an extended illness.

Mr. Todorich was born in Bradys Bend, Armstrong County, April 8, 1928. He was the son of Josip and Mary Pawkovich Todorich.

Mr. Todorich was a longtime member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic church in Bradys Bend, where he served as an usher most of his life. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Todorich was married May 22, 1954, in Beaver Falls, to the former Genevieve J. "Jennie" Kopka, who preceded him in death Dec. 24, 1986.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers in the 24th Division with the 5th Infantry. He was a member of the Kaylor American Legion Bishop Madden Post 488.

Mr. Todorich was employed for 39 years with U.S. Steel, having worked for many years at the company's limestone mine in Bradys Bend. He retired from U.S. Steel in Saxonburg in 1985.

He enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and mowing grass. He especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Surviving are a son, Thomas J. Todorich and his wife, Christine, of Chicora; a daughter, Connie L. Cogley and her husband, Gordon H., of East Brady; the deceased's wife, Audrey Becker Todorich of East Brady; four grandchildren, Becky Todorich of Chicora, Kelly Rumbaugh and her husband, Mark, of Chicora and Jenny L. Cogley and Joseph A.M. Cogley, both of East Brady; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Trevor and Logan Rumbaugh, all of Chicora; four sisters, Amelia "Millie" Kopka of Beaver Falls, Rose Vayansky of Donora, Barbara Todorich of Pittsburgh and Dorothy Smith and her husband, Bill, of Atlanta, Texas; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Todorich; two sisters, Betty Romanko and Mary Ann Smith; and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Todorich, who died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home </B>of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Patrick Roman Catholic church in Bradys Bend with the Rev. William Kuba, pastor of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic church, East Brady, officiating.
