Victoria Cox, 17, daughter of Dave and Sandi Cox of Evans City, has been named the Pennsylvania State Hereford Queen for 2005.The owner of three cows, four heifers, a bull and a steer, she has shown in several local, state and national cattle shows.Cox will compete for the national Hereford Queen title this summer in Colorado.During her reign, she will visit local farm shows and organizations speaking about the beef industry.For information or to request Cox as a speaker or guest, e-mail sancx@aol.com.D. David Guthrie of Guthrie's Gallery in Richland Township was awarded five blue ribbons and two achievement and recognition awards at the Mid-East States Competition for photography and the Professional Photographers of Pennsylvania Competition.His winning portraits will advance to a national competition to be held in June in Las Vegas.The
Opus I Music Society of Cranberry Township has announced the winners of its National Music Week Poster Contest held recently for students in Pine-Richland, Mars and Seneca Valley School districts.The theme for the competition was "Music Helps Freedom Ring Around the World." Winning posters will be on display at May's Music Shoppe, 247 E. Jefferson St., Butler, through Monday.First place winners included

Jacqueline Bice of the Saxonburg District Women's Club received third place in the scenic photography category.In the crafts category, first place prizes went to
Jennifer Gundlach of the Saxonburg District Women's Club and
Maria Blose of the Junior Women's Club of Butler. Second place prizes went to
Vi MacMurdo of The Women's Club of Mars and
Martha Emerick of the Saxonburg District Women's Club.
Donna Tasker of the Saxonburg District Women's Club was awarded third place.In the Habitat for Humanity quilt block category, first place went to
Doris Herceg of the Saxonburg District Women's Club.An award for leadership was given to
Janet Hofer of the Intermediate League of Butler.
Marie Erickson of the Saxonburg District Women's Club received a community service award.
