Alvin Rummel, 84, of Cabot passed away Friday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born July 16, 1927, in Winfield Township, he was the son of Ernest Victor Rummel and Edna Matilda Lang Rummel.

Alvin was a farmer and also director and company manager for Hannahstown Mutual Insurance Co.

He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, where he was an elder and former president of the congregation and also a member of the Lutheran Layman's League.

Surviving are four sons, Arlin (Monica) Rummel of Cabot, Sam (Didi) Rummel of Savannah, Ga., Jim Rummel of Cabot and Steve (Missy) Rummel of Sarver; two daughters, Marlene (Henry) DuBois of Elmer, N.J., and Nancy (Roger) Early of Sarver; three sisters, Kathryn (Roland) Montag of Cabot, Delores (Fred) Wetzel of Grove City and Janet (Charles) Dobson of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren, with two on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Erma Montag Rummel on Jan. 29, 2011; and one grandson, Greg Rummel.

<B>RUMMEL</B> — Friends of Alvin Rummel, who died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, Saxonburg, and also on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen officiating.
