Butler County Heritage Center will display two model railroads Sunday afternoons beginning Nov. 23 and continuing through Jan. 4. Hours will be noon until 4 p.m.

The museum will also be open from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 28, the day of Butler's annual Spirit of Christmas Parade downtown.

Also visit to see the model circus train that encircles the Jay Bee Miniature Circus, the detailed replica of the classic three-ring show hand-carved and hand-painted by the late James Bashline.

The Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St., is also home to Austin and Bantam cars as well as the "jeep," which was produced in the city of Butler. Other exhibits include those about Pullman-Standard, steel, oil and glass industries.

Refreshments will be served on opening day, Nov. 23, and Santa Claus will drop in for a visit from noon until 2 p.m. Nov. 28.

Museum admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 17, and free for those younger than 5.

Butler Area Public Library will host a local author symposium from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22.Several local authors will be available for book signings and to discuss their craft. Butler County Community College will be the site of "Caring for Kids" to benefit Autism Services in Butler County at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Succop Theater on campus.The show will feature the 2008 Kids on Campus production of "Villains Anonymous," an original musical written and directed by BCCC student Kelly McIntyre and an appearance by magician Tim Kutch.Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and younger and students.
