Aug. 18 — Adam J. King, 20, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor fleeing from an officer, related to an attempted traffic stop July 15 on Route 8 in Butler Township.Police said they used pacing technology to estimate the vehicle's speed at 131 mph. Police said they followed the car to Greenwood Drive, where the vehicle made a left. Police said they followed the vehicle onto Greenwood Drive, and lost sight of the vehicle. Police said the vehicle was registered to King, and they were able to make contact with him later. Police said King admitted to officers that he saw the emergency lights and continued anyway.

Aug. 18 — Lance E. Sloan, 26, of Stephens City, Va., was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from a July 10 raffic stop on North Main Street Extension in Center Township.Police said they stopped the vehicle for crossing lines on the road. Police said they smelled marijuana during the stop, and a field sobriety test showed Sloan was impaired.Police said they later found suspected marijuana and a pipe in the vehicle, and a blood test later showed marijuana in his system.Aug. 18 — Hayley R. Hortert, 20, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense DUI following a July 17 vehicle crash at the intersection of Headland Road and Simon Drive in Summit Township.Police said the vehicle was overturned on its driver's side, and Hortert was found to be the driver. Police said a later blood test showed her blood-alcohol content at .123%. In Pennsylvania, a level of .08% is considered intoxicated.Aug. 18 — Zachary K. Adamson, 23, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from an Aug. 15 traffic stop on Unionville Road near Brown Road in Center Township.Police said they stopped the vehicle for crossing lines on the road. Police said they smelled alcohol, and field sobriety tests showed Adamson was impaired.Police said a later breath test showed his blood-alcohol content was .118%. In Pennsylvania, a level of .08% is considered intoxicated.Aug. 18 — Kaitlyn Johnston, 24, of Kittanning, was charged with a first-offense DUI, related to a June 23 dispatch about a woman passed out in a vehicle on the 1000 block of Madison Avenue in East Butler.Police said they were able to awaken Johnston from the driver's seat of her still running vehicle on the road. Police said field sobriety tests showed Johnston was impaired, and police noticed bags of heroin in plain view.Police said blood tests showed fentanyl was found in her system, and stamp bags of suspected fentanyl were found inside the vehicle.Aug. 17 — Robert C. Hayes Jr., 53, of Slippery Rock, was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from a July 2 traffic stop on Route 8 north of Route 138 in Clay Township.Police said they stopped the vehicle for crossing lines on the road. Police said they smelled marijuana, and field sobriety tests showed Hayes was impaired.Police said a later blood test showed marijuana in his system.Aug. 16 — James F. Chvala, 51, of Harmony, was charged with simple assault following a Aug. 16 response to a domestic dispute on the 800 block of Perry Highway in Muddy Creek Township.Police said Chvala's wife told officers he grabbed her forearms and slapped her in the face. Police said the wife had red linear marks on her forearms, matching her statement.Police said Chvala told officers he grabbed his wife's arms to prevent her from hitting him with the electrical cord from the vacuum cleaner.Aug. 16 — Ryan D. Coast, 47, of Harrisville, was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from an Aug. 8 traffic stop on Franklin Street in Slippery Rock.Police said they stopped the vehicle for crossing lines on the road. Police said they smelled alcohol, and field sobriety tests showed Coast was impaired.Police said a later breath test showed his blood-alcohol content at .164%. In Pennsylvania, a level of .08% is considered intoxicated.Aug. 5 — Brendan A. Linton, 26, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, relating to slow moving traffic July 31 on Evans City Road.Police said Linton rode his pedalcycle in the middle of the road. Police said a shoulder was available, and his driving in the lane was in violation of minimum speed regulations.
