Seneca Valley eclipses Moon

Kevin Miller scored off an assist by Matt Jones with 15 minutes remaining in the contest to lead the Seneca Valley boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Moon.

Dave Monteleone picked up the shutout in goal for the Raiders (9-3).

Knoch 13, Valley 0 - D.J. Thomas and Scott Herman scored three goals each for the Knights.Eric Steighner added two goals, with Bryan Ramsey, Jeff Pennington, C.J. Wise, Matt Mahan and Adam Sharbaugh adding one each.Steve Frey and Nathan Geibel shared the shutout in goal for Knoch (10-1, 9-1), which hosts Deer Lakes Thursday.

Mars 7, Kittanning 0 - Adam Dillner shredded the Wildcats' defense for three goals while Bob McKinney added two scores for the Planets.Andrew Dillner and Shawn Mellor also scored in the win.

Cursty McClure had 12 kills and Kristin Staugh added 17 points, five aces and 16 assists to lead Slippery Rock to a 25-13, 25-8, 25-16 win over Greenville.Amy Siwik added nine points, five digs and six kills, Jess Spicher had five digs, Erica Gabneski had seven points and five kills and Marlena Lipko had six points for the Rockets (4-2), who will host rival Grove City Thursday.<B>A-C Valley 3, Karns City 0 -</B> The Falcons downed the Gremlins (4-3) 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 in this KSAC matchup.The Gremlins' junior varsity team won 2-0.

Two Moniteau golfers finished in the top 20 out of the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference's 48 best golfers at the league-wide tournament Monday at Clarion Oaks.Cody Slater finished 13th with an 83, while Paul Thompson finished 14th with an 84.<B>District 10, Region 2</B> - Grove City finished the league matches with a perfect 56 points to repeat as champion.Cameron Peterson shot a 71 at the par-70 Oakview Country Club to win medalist honors.Titusville was second with 46 points.Slippery Rock finished fifth in the region with 28 points. Nick Cress shot an 81 for the Rockets.The top 16 golfers in the region will compete in the district tournament Oct. 13 and 14 at Greenville Country Club.
