Donald E. Bricker, 78, of Winfield Township passed away unexpectedly at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday at his home.

Donald was born in Winfield Township on June 15, 1933, the son of Margaret I. (Hughes) Bricker of Winfield Township and the late Gayle A. Bricker Sr.

He was the widower of Joan A. (Stumme) Bricker, who passed away this past April.

Don was a 1952 graduate of the Winfield School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After his service to his country, Don went to worked as a millwright at the U.S. Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg for more than 30 years. After the closing of the plant in Saxonburg, Don worked for Armstrong Cement in Winfield Township for another 10 years.

Don was a member of the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed woodworking and yard work, and in his younger years, he loved to go on family camping trips. He loved to brag about his grandchildren and looked forward every week to playing with his granddaughter, Lilia.

Don is survived by his two daughters, Deborah A. and James Frantz of South Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, and Cynthia L. Bricker of Natrona Heights; his three grandchildren, Jason (Kara) Frantz, Eric Frantz and Kimberly Frantz; three great-grandchildren, Lilia, Andrew and Benjamin; and his brother, Gayle A. Bricker Jr. of Winfield Township.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil H. Bricker, and his sister, Dorothy Campbell.

<B>BRICKER</B> — Family and friends of Donald E. Bricker, who died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. Family and friends also are being received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, 106 Brown Road, Slate Lick. A funeral service will follow at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating.
