Butler Police3 a.m. Saturday — John W. Bittner, 28, was arrested on charges that he swung a hunting knife at a 16-year-old boy during an altercation at the suspect’s home in the 400 block of Negley Avenue in the city’s Island neighborhood.Police allege Bittner was intoxicated when he and the boy, who was not identified in court documents, got into an argument. During the argument, documents said, the suspect got a Buck knife. He swung the knife and chased the teen with it. The boy managed to escape and was not injured.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Bittner on charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threats. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.

State Police, ButlerSaturday — Chrystal K. Brown, 43, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her husband, David Brown Jr., during a domestic dispute at their home in the 800 block of North Washington Road in Washington Township.Brown is accused of punching her husband in the face and hitting him in the head and face with rocks that she threw at him, according to court documents. Police said when they spoke to victim he was bleeding from his right ear and he had a red mark on the right side of his face.Police suspect the defendant was intoxicated during the incident. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital to be checked out due to her inebriated condition. Later, while being released to police custody at the hospital, Brown refused a trooper’s attempt to place her in handcuffs.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Brown on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail following arraignment.5 p.m. Friday — Micah J. Hiles, 32, of Petrolia was hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Muddy Creek Township. The collision happened when a sport utility driven by Shirley M. Hazel, 74, of Lake Placid, Fla., pulled in front of Hiles’ car on Route 422 at the Interstate 79 off-ramp.Hiles, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries. Police cited Hazel for a stop sign violation.6:44 a.m. Thursday — Victoria E. Rodgers, 27, of Butler lost control of her car while backing up and struck a tree along Eagle Mill Road just south of Ragan Road in Connoquenessing Township. Police cited Rodgers for disregarding traffic lanes.

State Police, Clarion8:11 p.m. Saturday — A minivan driven by Brayanna J. Aites, 19, of Rimersburg struck a car on Route 68 at Bauer Road in Clarion Township.Police cited Aites for a stop sign violation, driving without a license, driving without insurance, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt. Michael J. Meals, 51, of Foxburg was the other driver.

State Police, Franklin8:15 a.m. Saturday — A car crashed into the median on Interstate 80 in Irwin Township. A police report did not identify the driver.

State Police, Kittanning4:50 p.m. Sunday — Jacob S. Thomas, 35, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed into an embankment at Route 66 and Beach Road in Manor Township. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.5:06 p.m. Saturday — A man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana on Route 28 near the Graff Bridge in North Buffalo Township. Police said charges are pending lab results.\

State Police, MercerJuly 25 — An unknown would-be burglar tried to break into a 39-year-old man’s house on Barkeyville Road in Pine Township. The attempted break-in happened between July 22 and 25.
